KUCHING, SARAWAK

A 46-year-old man died in a single vehicle accident that took place at Jalan Kg Sangkie, Sebangan in Sebuyau near here last Sunday.

The victim, identified as Mang Empulu, was heading to Kuching when the accident occurred around 9.20am.

According to investigating officer Insp Muhammad Azrul Zakaria, Mang was driving very fast, causing him to lose control of his vehicle which then overturned and landed in a ditch.

“The victim is believed to have been speeding as he drove past a school. Based on the mark of the tyres, the vehicle could have swerved off from its lane into the opposite lane.

“Just as he tried to switch back to his original lane, he lost control of his vehicle and landed in the ditch, upside down.”

He is believed to have drowned in the ditch which was full of water.

Mang, a labourer, came from Rumah Nungkang, Kampung Mambai, Sebuyau. The case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
