The Kelana Jaya LRT line was transformed into a runway when nine models sashayed through the coaches, parading the latest in Muslimah wear.
Dubbed "Runway Busana Muslimah On The Move", it was the first Muslimah fashion show to take place on a moving train.
Models wearing clothes from six brands – ElleLena, Fiore, Raqtive, TiaLacrissa, Tudung Botol Bonda and Aireen_my – catwalked through the crowd, turning heads with their glamour and high fashion.
Passenger Lutfiah Hafid said she had never seen a fashion show on a moving train before.
The 25-year-old, who was on her way home to Gombak, whipped out her smartphone to take photos and videos of the models.
“What brands are these?
“Their clothes are syariah compliant. I would definitely look them up online,” said the excited Lutfiah after watching the show.
HCM Biz Services founder Hazlina Churai Mee, who organised the event, said the event was aimed at piquing the curiosity of the brand's target market.
The show started from the Kampung Baru LRT station on the train heading towards the Gombak station before it made its way back to Kampung Baru for the models to change their attire.
After taking the train from Kampung Baru to Masjid Jamek, the models then continued the fashion show at the Masjid Jamek station.
“Our models are very interactive. They will encourage the public to take selfies with them and ask them to share these online with all their friends,” she said.
Hazlina, who owns ElleLena and Fiore, said the show was different from others held at shopping malls due to its interactive element.
“Our biggest challenge was the restricted movement as well as the moving ground for the models to walk on while they were on the train,” she said.
The response, said Hazlina, was encouraging, adding that HCM Biz would be planning a second instalment of “Runway Busana Muslimah On The Move”.
