Lao Red Cross Donates 900 Tonnes Of Rice To Needy People In Four Provinces

VIENTIANE

 

(KPL) Since the beginning of August, Lao Red Cross donated 900 tonnes of rice  to help more than 100,000 needy people in 16 districts, 220 villages in four provinces of Oudomxay, Luang Namtha, Sekong and Saravane.

 

This aid is a collaboration between the Lao Red Cross and Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.

 

The move will further donate rice to help target groups of needy people which is expected that the beginning of September 2023 will be fully completed.

 

The target group is the poor, disadvantaged and needy people living in rural and remote areas who cannot access food security project.

 

A person will receive 7,6kg of rice, which can survive for 19 days.  The aid worth USD 172,000, supported by Republic of Korea and Ireland.
