His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum

Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of

Brunei Darussalam this morning began an Official Visit to Japan by attending a meeting

with His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Emperor of Japan.

Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam

was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

The meeting which took place at the Imperial Residence, the Imperial Palace in

Tokyo, among other things provided the opportunity for His Majesty the Sultan and Yang

Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty the Emperor of Japan to further

strengthen the bond and friendship between both countries, in which the relationship has

also been strengthened through cooperation in energy, trade, education and people-to-

people exchanges.
