His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the King and Queen of Malaysia have extended their warmest Happy Chinese New Year greetings to Malaysians celebrating this auspicious occasion.

In a post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook account, Their Majesties also expressed hope that the festivities will further bolster unity among Malaysians, irrespective of their race, religion or culture.

Leaders from both sides of the political divide have also expressed their best wishes to the Chinese community in conjunction with the Lunar New Year, saying they want the country’s unity to be strengthened in the Year of the Dragon.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi took to Facebook to say he hoped the festival will bring happiness and further strengthen the relationship and kinship among Malaysians.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, said Malaysians are united despite their different religions, cultures and races.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said Malaysia’s success in being united is depicted in such celebrations when everyone comes together in harmony.

“May the Year of the Dragon usher in lasting health, happiness, sustenance and prosperity for everyone.

 “Let’s use this celebration to deepen the bonds of harmony and unity among us, celebrating our rich diversity in race, religion and culture as the foundation that unites us all.

“Truly, unity stands as the primary key to peace, harmony and stability within a country and it remains a fundamental element of Malaysia’s success,” said Fadillah.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong expressed hope that the Year of the Dragon would bring courage and strength for Malaysians to explore new and uncharted territories with success.

“As we usher in the Year of the Dragon, my wife Jessica and I would like to wish all our friends and family an auspicious and prosperous Chinese New Year.

“To those of you who are travelling, rest well before you start your journey. Be vigilant and drive safe,” he posted on Facebook.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan also took the opportunity to wish the Chinese community Happy New Year.

“Wishing everyone a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year 2024. Gong Xi Fa Chai!” said Mohamad.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said he hoped the Chinese New Year would bring more blessings and better health.

“May this celebration further ignite our spirit of togetherness among the various races, religions and cultures,” he said.

Selangor Opposition leader Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said that he hoped that the Year of the Dragon will only bring good.

“May the Year of Dragon usher in a better Malaysia as we unite to celebrate this festival together.

“Unity in diversity is an asset for our country to prosper and benefit all Malaysians,” he said.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said despite the economic challenges, he hoped the festival will still be celebrated vibrantly this year.

He said Chinese New Year is a festival that celebrates values such as the importance of family, communal welfare, love, compassion and camaraderie.

“In the spirit of the new year and a fresh beginning, PAS calls upon all parties to reaffirm our commitment to upholding noble and exemplary values,” he added.

Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said he hoped the Year of the Dragon would bring more investments to the state.
