A prolific shoplifter who stole almost £60 worth of Cadbury’s Creme Eggs has been jailed.

Scott McSpadden, 40, walked into a Tesco in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, and helped himself to a haul of the chocolate treats without paying.

He was accompanied by another known shoplifter Tanya Momot, 31, violating a previous Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from entering a store at the same time as her.

McSpadden, of Wisbech, was arrested on April 4 and later charged with the theft of the eggs – worth £59.40 – and breaching a CBO.

He was sentenced to nine weeks in jail at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court, where he had admitted both offences.

He was also ordered to pay £30 compensation to Tesco.

Momot, of Wisbech, appeared at the same court on the same day after admitting she stole £95.98 worth of sandwiches and confectionary items from a BP garage in Wisbech.

She was ordered to pay £32 in compensation to BP.

This comes two days after she appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for six months, and a 10-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) for breaching a two-year CBO.

The CBO prevents her from entering the pedestrianised area of the Horsefair shopping centre in Wisbech.

PC James Game said: ‘McSpadden and Momot are prolific shoplifters in Wisbech who blatantly disregard the orders of the court by continuing to breach their CBOs and commit shoplifting offences.’

In February last year, another thief stole a whopping 200,000 Cadbury’s Creme Eggs.

Joby Pool, 32, broke into an industrial unit in Telford, Shropshire, before driving off with £31,000 worth of eggs.
