​The tourism and economic sectors as potential areas to be developed more widely, among those discussed during a courtesy call to the Speaker of the Legislative Council by  Chairman of the Standing Committee of Yunnan Provincial People's Congress of the People's Republic of China with a delegation of 5 people from the Yunnan Provincial People's Congress'. 

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib and His Excellency Mr. Li Xiaosan also discussed the respective legal system as well as the function and role of the Council as the main channel to the people. 

Both parties hope to further strengthen cooperation and relations between the two Councils through exchange of visits in the near future. The courtesy call was held on 13th May morning, at Bangunan Dewan Majlis, Jabatan Majlis-majlis Mesyuarat.

During the courtesy call, the Speaker of the Legislative Council stated that the People's Republic of China plays an important role in the country's economic growth as one of the main investors and expands trade. His Excellency Li Xiaosan stated that the People's Republic of China always supports friendly countries to develop further through areas of cooperation. 

Also present were His Excellency Dr. Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the country; and Members of the Legislative Council.
