The planned expansion and renovation of Muara Port and the development of an Integrated Marine Maintenance and Decommissioning Yard will further grow the shipping requirements in country, and grow the demand for Darussalam Pilotage Services, DPS pilotage and towage services. The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications explained that the ministry through the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, MPABD strives to further improve the local content aspects of the maritime sector.
Speaking at the Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU between Darussalam Pilotage Services Sendirian Berhad and Malaysia Maritime Academy Sendirian Berhad, MMASB, and the Scholarship Signing Ceremony in Jerudong, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha said that with the observed growth and further growth opportunities, the industry has the ability to grow the available job opportunities for locals.
The MoU was signed by Awang Zil Husam Haji Abdul Rahman, General Manager of DPS, and Eddie Ahmad Khodzal, Chief Executive Officer of MMASB. The signing will further strengthen collaboration between the two companies.
At the ceremony, 10 students signed the scholarship to undertake a Diploma in Nautical Studies at MMASB's leading maritime training academy. Among those present was Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy as Chairman of DPS Board of Directors.
