His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday sent congratulatory messages to Md Abdul Hamid, President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, and Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, on the occasion of the Independence Day of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

In the messages, His Majesty extended his warmest congratulations to the president, prime minister as well as the Government of Bangladesh, and people of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in conjunction with the Independence Day.

His Majesty also expressed his appreciation for the long-standing friendship and cooperation enjoyed by the two countries and people respectively, particularly the contribution made by the people of the People's Republic of Bangladesh towards the development of Brunei Darussalarn.

His Majesty looked forward to continuing to strengthen the much-valued relations in the coming years.

In ending the messages, His Majesty extended his kind regards and best wishes to both the president and prime minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
