Workshop on Islamic Slaughter Rites Held

SALAMBIGAR, BRUNEI-MUARA

 

Mosque youth and Takmir Mosque Committee members of Zone II of Brunei-Muara District yesterday participated in an Islamic slaughter workshop at Kampong Salambigar Mosque.

 

It was organised by Kampong Salambigar Takmir Mosque Committee members and Mosque Affairs Department in collaboration with the Halal Food Control Division of the Department of Syariah Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

 

Awang Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Bungsu, Head Imam of Kampong Salambigar Mosque, said the workshop was an opportunity to learn how to carry out slaughtering in accordance to Islamic laws.

 

He said such workshops would be continuously conducted for the benefit of the younger generation.

 

A participant, Awang Mahfuuz Anas Deephai bin Haji Ahmad expressed his excitement as it was his second time participating in the workshop.

 

Another participant Awangku Haji Mohd Faris bin Pengiran Haji Rusman, also a representative of Setia Ali Mosque, said, "Through the workshop, we were able to learn the appropriate way of slaughtering according to the Syariah Law, and at the same time can witness a practical session on how to slaughter animals."

 

During the workshop, participants also got an opportunity to do a practical session under the guidance of an officer of Halal Food Control Division of the Department of Syariah Affairs.
