Take A Look At What’s Cooking

Begawan – All students regardless of their gender are
encouraged to take up Home Science as a selected subject and opt for
Hotel Management and Caterings as their future careers.
Pengiran
Datin Hajah Mariam, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of
Education gave this advice at the 4th National Level Cooking
Competition for Secondary Schools and Colleges yesterday.
The skills they gain could pave the
way to start their own food and hotel management-related businesses,
she added.
She also suggested that all secondary
schools and colleges should continue to conduct such competitions on
regular basis as an effort to encourage and attract student interest
in the art of cooking and choose home science as a subjects at lower
secondary level.
Twenty secondary schools and colleges
took part in the competition but only seven managed to reach the final
level.
Three categories were judged. They
were the contents of the recipe, methods of cooking and table
designing and arrangements.
The theme of this year's competition
is "Go the Soya Way".
The reigning champion the Sayyidina
Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School retained the title. They won all the
