Gas Break Brings Big Blackout In Belait

Kuala Belait - A massive power outage around 4.50 pm affected the whole of Belait District due to, a disruption in gas supply to the COGEN plant yesterday.

However, Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd and Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd brought the situation under control and gas supply to the BLNG's COGEN plant was restored phase by phase starting at 9.40 pm.

Power supply to the Belait District was also being progressively restored at the time of going to the press.

The BLNG Emergency Coordination Centre was activated and mobilised to coordinate the company's response from BLNG's head office in Lumut.

There was no untoward incident including injuries to people or damage to property as a result of this power supply interruption, a BSP/BLNG press release stated.

BSP and BLNG deeply regretted the inconvenience caused to the public and also thanked members of the public for their cooperation and understanding during the period of power supply interruption. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
