Traffic Lights Gambling Game
Tutong - Bets on cock fighting as well as games like `Katam Katam' and `Traffic Lights' at a gambling den in the Tutong District, came to an abrupt end when 50 police personnel swooped down on the illegal activities Sunday evening.
It was found at the vicinity of Kg Bukit Udal. Forty-two persons including women were detained for their alleged involvement in gambling activities. It's the biggest gambling case the police has come across so far this year.
Thanks to a tip-off from the public, 50 police personnel from Lamunin Police Station and Tutong Police Station, led by Acting District Crime Officer of Tutong District, took part in the operation.
Some of the people believed to be involved in the gambling managed to flee into the nearby thicket, but soon surrendered themselves to the police who stood guard outside the jungle for hours.
In addition to the gambling tools, 50 cars at the vicinity were brought to the Tutong Police Station.
Under section 7 (2), gambling in public, anyone found guilty of the offence can face a fine of up to $10,000 or imprisonment of not more than six months.
