Exercise Regularly, Bruneians Told
Bandar Seri Begawan - Bruneians were urged to do more exercise on a regular basis to maintain a basic level of fitness and lead a healthy life without being out of breath, overweight or run the risk of getting heart disease or diabetes.
Operation Sports Supervisor at The Empire Hotel and Country Club Hj Yuza Hanisrin said that with an obesity rate of 80 per cent in the country, Bruneians should start adopting a healthy lifestyle to ensure that their health are in good conditions.
During yesterday's launching of The Empire Hotel and Country Club's new gym, he said that doing regular exercise and eating a balanced diet are the key to leading a healthy lifestyle.
He urged those wishing to burn fat, tone their muscles or stay in good shape to use the hotel's state-of-the-art gym facilities to keep track of their fitness development under the close supervision of personal trainers.
"We want to generate more awareness among Bruneians to stay in shape and members can utilise these high-tech facilities at the gymnasium, which can be used by people of all ages," he said, adding that the facilities provided at the gym were in accordance to international fitness standards.
The two-floor new gym, which can accommodate about 30 people at a time, is now serving male and female members as the existing gymnasium at the hotel will specifically cater for female members to do their exercise and aerobic workouts, he said.
Trainer at the hotel, I Gusti Aping, said that new members will be asked to join a series of exercise programmes for those who need to increase their fitness level to stay fit.
He added that members who wish to keep track of their fitness will be assessed by their trainers to check on their progress during their workout sessions.
Present to launch the gym was Dato Paduka Hj Ali Hj Apong, permanent secretary at the Prime Ministers Office, who is also the chairman of Jerudong Park Hotel Sdn Bhd. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
