Don't Fret Over Licence Test Issue
I would like to comment on an article entitled Do We Need Stunt Rider Test To Get A Licence?
First of all, congratulations on obtaining your license. Secondly, are you a girl? Because, if you are a guy...then you're a sissy/wussy or whatever... No offense... 3rd, you already got your license...why do you still whine about it? You even did a research about it and please try not to compare Brunei with others as an excuse...it's so typical already.
The thing is, I don't see anything wrong with the test... have you ever ride a bicycle before when you were a child? 1st time without a supporter wheels are hard right...because you need to balance and move the bicycle at the same time. But once you get used to it, your adrenaline starts to build up and you tend to go faster, do wheelies, maneuvers without your hand on the steering wheel, drive across a huge ditch via a wooden plank (in Malay they call it "Titian"), and race against friends and set-up your own race track.(I have to admit, girls tend to be superior back then..Maybe they have more experience since some were older than us boys back then.) What? Never done any of those? Then you probably have a boring childhood... even a dare devil stunt riders find it awkward if our test course labeled as "Stunt test course" since they tend to ride across fire, explosion, jumping over 50 buses or a cliff via a ramp. I mean, come-on~ we don't do any of these on the test course... okay, back to topic.
1) The purpose of the "ridiculous" test that you mention is simply to test your balance on how you are maneuvering your bike. Motorcycles are heavier than bicycle. So if you fail in your balance test then you're still not qualified. Simple as that...assume you never took the practice session, try to walk on it...if you still fall then try to walk properly 1st before you try to ride across with a bike...I even saw a kid ride across a huge ditch via a wooden plank on a oversize bicycle(adult bicycle) to a convenient store a few times already without falling...how cool was that?
2) I beg to differ, some of us riders still use this method...especially if we do less braking on a delicate humps (unless it's a ridiculously steep one then it's a different story). Why so? Because it's the safest way, our legs will react like a spring thus reduce the impact force receive to our back-bones n joints. And that might save your life too.
3) What do you mean by "No such conditions exist on our road"? We still got potholes everywhere...unexpected wavy road...some harsh condition along the highway and not to mention a pool of water during rainy session. all the test you been through are for these conditions and for your own safety. Overall, not everyone have the same mindset as you...lastly, sorry for my bad English or words that might be offending.. Drive safe! Cheers!
