Why fly yourself when you could ride on the back of an eagle?
That would be like walking to work instead of arriving in a Porsche you happened to spot with an open door and keys in the ignition, right?
In the latest display of small animals with massive egos thinking they can take on much larger beasts and win, a red-winged blackbird was pictured hitching a ride on America’s national bird, the bald eagle.
With a wingspan of just 30 inches, it is only a third the size of the giant bald eagle, one of the largest predators in the sky, but that was not an issue for our fearless feathered friend, who decided not even the sky was the limit.
Eagle-eyed readers might have noticed a similarity to the weasel riding a woodpecker which went massively viral last year.
That nasty little carnivore thought it could take down the bird and eat it, but this time it was not successful and it got thrown off instead.
For the blackbird, such sinister motives don’t seem to be why it decided to take a ride and we shall assume the eagle was lending a helpful wing, much like its brethren did with Gandalf in The Hobbit.
The amazing images were taken in the Ed R. Levin National Park, California by software specialist Thinh Bui, aged 58, from Fremont, USA.
