To mark the beginning of construction for the new Mercedes-Benz showroom, a foundation laying ceremony was held yesterday at Lot 78C, Beribi Industrial Estate, followed by a contract signing ceremony between Jati Transport Sdn Bhd, the authorised distributor for Daimler AG in Brunei Darussalam, and Metrobina & Partners Sdn Bhd, the contractor.

Officiating the ceremony was Pengiran Anak Haji Ja'afar ibni Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, Executive Chairman of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd; Thomas Heilmaier, Acting German Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam; Kenny Ng, General Manager for Emerging Markets Mercedes-Benz; Andrew Chiam, Executive Director of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd; Teo Choon Kok, Managing Director of Metrobina & Partners Sdn Bhd; and Vishnu Sakdiyakorn, Architect for Booty Edwards & Partners.

Meanwhile, the contract signing was carried out by Pengiran Anak Haji Ja'afar, Andrew Chiani, Teo Choon Kok and Vishnu Sakdiyakorn.

The $5 million showroom and service centre will be built according to the Mercedes-Benz standard and covers a total floor area of 28,000 square feet that features an 11-vehicle display area, a new car delivery area, a customer lounge, a merchandise shop, 13 service bays, and plenty of guest parking spaces.
