A Vietnamese woman yesterday was sentenced to one-year imprisonment after pleading guilty in the Magistrate's Court to illegally entering and residing in the country despite being barred.

Nguyen Thi Dong, 37, was arrested on March 28 during an immigration raid at a restaurant where she was working.

The Immigration prosecutor informed Senior Magistrate Lailatul Zubaidah Hussain that investigations revealed that the defendant had previously used a different passport to gain entry.
