Total foreign trade in Shanghai rose 2.2 percent to 3.15 trillion yuan (about 481.6 billion U.S. dollars) in the first 11 months of this year, data from Shanghai Customs showed Monday.

From January to November, exports rose 0.5 percent to 1.25 trillion yuan, while imports were up 3.4 percent to 1.9 trillion yuan.

Shanghai's trade to major trading partners all maintained growth. Trade to the European Union, Shanghai's largest trading partner, totaled 620.4 billion yuan, up 4.2 percent year on year and accounted for 19.7 percent of Shanghai's total foreign trade during the period.

Trade to the United States and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations also rose 6.9 percent and 2.4 percent to 440.4 billion yuan and 434.4 billion yuan, respectively.

In the first 11 months, Shanghai imported 625 billion yuan in high-tech products, up 10.2 percent year on year, accounting for 32.8 percent of Shanghai's total import value.

Among them, the import of integrated circuits was 270.3 billion yuan, up 13.7 percent year on year, making it the largest category of imported goods during the period.

Meanwhile, Shanghai exported 857.8 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, up 0.5 percent year on year, which accounted for 68.8 percent of the total export value.
