XN FT, Al Idrus Cruised to VFA FA Cup Semi-Finals

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

Heavyweights XN FT and Al Idrus cruised to the semi-finals of the Veteran Football Association (VFA) FA Cup 2016 following their respective emphatic victories recently.

The two traditional powerhouses, both still in a shout for the President Cup, are bidding to win the double this season in the country's premier veteran league competition.

XN FT, who are setting their sights on an unprecedented fourth President Cup title, secured an easy 6-2 rout over Rimba Star while Al Idrus made light work of a supposedly tricky tie against PSJD in a 5-2 victory.

Dark horses I Team also booked a berth in the last four following a devastating 7-3 win over IKLS Veteran while Mohais FC, another team still competing in both fronts, edged Stoneville in a seven-goal thriller.

Al Idrus, who will be looking to win a second FA Cup title in three years, will be boosted with the rise in form of Haji Hassan bin Haji Damit who bagged four goals in the 5-2 win.

Meanwhile, the DST National Veteran Football League President's Cup continues with the quarterfinals this weekend with arguably the top two teams closing in a titanic clash.

I Team look to emulate their FA Cup semi-final passage with an encounter against T.J FT while defending champions XN FT meet AKSE Bersatu at the Royal Brunei Recreation Club.

Al Idrus will have their work cut out against Mohais FC who still hold a 100% record in both competitions while RB Veteran face BSRC at their home ground in Berakas.
