Monarch to Take Part in Cycling Activity This Sunday

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is scheduled to take part in the royal birthday cycling activity, which will begin and end at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan this Sunday, said the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) yesterday.
The programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) where the cycling activity is to mark the 70th royal birthday celebration towards the establishment of a sports culture and strengthening unity through the involvement of the society as a whole in creating a nation with healthy people.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) in organising the programme together with the ministries of Home Affairs, Development, Communications, Health and other ministries with the Bicycle Federation of Brunei Darussalam shows that cycling is given equally important recognition, respect and encouragement with other social sectors to achieve national development goals, unity and continued stability.
The royal birthday 2016 cycling activity will see participants circle around Bandar Seri Begawan for 15 kilometres and pass the main roads including Jalan Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, Jalan Haji Basir, Jalan Kumbang Pasang, Jalan Perdana Menteri, JalanMenteri Besar, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway, Jalan Tasek, Jalan Kianggeh and end at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien.
The cycling route passes by the monuments and historical sites around Bandar Seri Begawan.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) invites the public to join in the cycling activity which will begin at 7.30am.
People, however, are advised to come early to ensure a smooth flag-off of the activity. Participation is free.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) will continue to work on sports projects for the community.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) hopes to revive cycling as a healthy activity in the country and create excitement in the capital during the weekend.
