If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to die then come on down to the Samadhi Death Simulator in Shanghai, China, where not only can you apparently find out what it’s like to die, but you can find out what it’s like to be cremated and reborn too.
The simulator is intended to stop people from being scared of death (you might argue that fear of death is quite sensible, but that’s beside the point) and it begins by having you lie down on a giant conveyor belt which takes you into an ‘oven’, where you ‘die’ and are ‘cremated’.
Once ‘dead’ – bear with us here – you find yourself in a huge area made of latex. This is the ‘womb’, from which you are ‘reborn’ into a ball pool.
‘This is a really interesting feeling,’ said one visitor, 33-year-old Lu Siwei.
‘It at least gives you the chance to calm down, and brings you back to earth to think about some of life’s problems. I think this is different.
‘When you walk through that door, you will experience some changes in your mentality, and it will be different from what it was before you entered.
‘I think this is really great, and very worthwhile.’
The simulator opens today and costs the equivalent of £47.
