An Al-Quran reading competition for men and reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and Ayat-Ayat Lazim for women were held recently at Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Mosque in Kampong Bukok, Temburong.

The competition was open to adults attending Iqra (Al-Quran reading class) at mosques, surau and religious halls in the district.

The Acting Assistant Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Awang Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri, presented the prizes.

In the 'A' category of reading Iqra books 1-3, the winner of the male category was Awang Ahmad bin Haji Kassim.

In category 'B' (reading of Iqra books 4-6) for men, the winner was Awang Mohd Jaya bin Haji Basri.

In the category of recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Ayat-Ayat Lazim, the winner was Dayang Mariam binti Haji Sabtu.
