27-Yr-Old Man Sentenced to 4-Month Jail for Beating Wife

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Magistrate's Court found a local man guilty after a trial on a charge of beating his wife and sentenced him to jail for four months yesterday.

Twenty-seven-year-old Mohammad Faizal bin Burot @ Karim, gripped the wrist, punched the arm and hit his 30-year-old wife's head repeatedly while they were in a car at The Airport Mall, Berakas at 12.45pm on March 22.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Sharon Yeo produced seven witnesses while the defendant had none.

Magistrate Pengiran Shahyzul bin Pengiran Abdul Rahman found the defendant had completely fabricated his defence and testified inconsistent evidence with those of the prosecution witnesses.

The defendant was motivated by the fact that he had believed his wife was cheating on him.
