Azwan Ali marked his much-awaited return to the starting eleven in superb fashion after finding the net and laying an assist in the 3-0 victory over Warriors FC in the S League at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.
The star midfielder has not featured in a competitive match since the second leg victory against Ceres La Salle in the Singapore Cup but quickly made his mark when he earned his side the breakthrough.
The Gegar Gegar men have now scored seven unanswered goals in two appearances against Warriors after condemning the troubled side to a seventh consecutive defeat in all competitions.
However, the match would have started much differently had Warriors defender Kento Fukuda directed his firm header either side of DPMM FC's goalkeeping custodian Wardun Yussof who had the perfect height to make the save.
DPMM FC midfielder Maududi Hilmi Kasmi proved a menace but Warriors captain Zulfadli Zainal absorbed the power out of his shot to ensure the ball land comfortably at the arms of Yazid Yasin.
Warriors midfielder found his way into the box before unleashing a low drive which Wardun saved well.
The returning Azwan Ali opened the scoring after collecting a loose ball before guiding the ball into the net despite the best interests of the Warriors defence to make a last-ditch intervention.
The midfielder made a clever pass into the middle for the onrushing Paulo Sergio but the visiting defence swept the danger.
After seeing his free-kick smashed against the wall in the first half, Sergio struck his shot on target which was punched away by Yazid.
DPMM FC defender Yura Andera Putera annulled the threat of Warriors forward Marijan Suto who had looked to pass him with a clever flick.
The visitors heaved a sigh of relief as Sergio' thunderous shot rattled against the bar.
Warriors sent a ferocious free-kick into the hip. but Marijan fluffed his lines with Ramazotti any Wardun collided whilst attempting to clear the ball.
Warriors forward Hafiz Rahim failed to stretch the hosts after getting his cutback all wrong with Hafiz Nor waiting on the box.
The hosts doubled the advantage as Brazilian forward Rafael Ramazotti nodded home Azwan Ali's corner.
It was a tactical masterstroke as substitute Aminuddin Zakwan Tahir skidded past a marke before setting up Sergio who blasted the ball into the top corner for DPMM FC's third.
Ramazotti produced a good effort in injur time but was denied by Yazid who pushed the ball away for a corner.
