Beruang Blazers Win 2nd Game

Beruang Blazers last night won 79-84 in a tune-up game against a select Filipino team at the Batu Bersurat Basketball Court.

 

The Beruang Blazers' players were put to the test and the Filipino team, which included some of the best Filipino players residing in the country, nearly got away with a hard fought win.

 

Lyndon Gudez was the star of the night for Beruang Blazers with 27 points, while compatriot Hernal Escosio was foul out in the third quarter.

 

Beruang Blazers led 31-26 at the end of the first quarter.

 

The Filipino team tried to reduce the deficit but Beruang Blazers played some good defence to end the interval with 52-45 lead.

 

The intensity of the game continued in the third quarter but Beruang Blazers maintained their lead at 67-61.

 

However in the fourth quarter, the Filipino team nearly snatch a winwith a one-point lead with two minutes left on the clock.

 

Delvin Goh and Lyndon Gudez came up with two free throws each to extend the lead for the eventual win.

 

Coach Ryan of Beruang Blazers was happy with the team chemistry and effort. "The game was abit messy as I expected. There were instances where there were lapses but if we keep our heads clear and focus, I feel that we can play good basketball."

 

He said, "This was a good friendly game and they gave us a good match. We got a good start. We hope to carry the momentum."
