BRUNEI MUARA

A local man will learn his fate tomorrow after he pleaded guilty yesterday in the Magistrate's Court to auto theft, giving false statement to police and switching a car's registration plate.

The thirty-six-year-old defendant, Muhammad Dzulfadli bin Kafli, stole a car from Kampong Sabun, Muara at midnight on July 26, 2016.

The car owner lodged a report which led the police to arrest the defendant. During investigations, the defendant lied and said that he was helping a friend move the car. Police conducted investigations on the defendant's friend and realised it was a lie.

The defendant then stole a car from Kampong Serasa on the morning of July 26, 2016 and changed its number plate to avoid being detected. The car owner lodged a police report which led to the defendant's arrest and the recovery of the car.

Magistrate Azrimah Abdul Rahman fixed the sentencing for tomorrow.

DPP Vuina Song represented the Public Prosecutor in the case.
