TAWAU, SABAH

The public have been urged to come forward to help the victims of the fire that destroyed the Madrasah Maahad Tahfiz Ashabissyahid in Bombalai on Sunday night.

Sebatik assemblyman Datuk Abdul Muis Picho said the fire had destroyed the madrasah building, a dormitory and a mosque adjoining the building.

“We hope the public, including private companies, corporations and private individuals, will come forward to help the Madrasah Tahfiz Institution,” he said.

“With the assistance given, it certainly can help to reduce the burden of about 100 students who lost their place of stay and the facilities there, besides helping Madrasah Maahad rebuild their building,” he said yesterday after visiting and donating food, daily necessities and money to the Maahad students in their temporary placement at Univilla Park.

He also urged the public to be vigilant of any source of fire that can lead to the occurrence of untoward incidents.

Also present were the Sebatik’s head of community development, Suryansah Kassau, Kalabakan Umno Youth deputy chief, Alias Udin, Mukim developers, Abus Awang and Musleh Muhamad Awang.
