TRIPOLI

The Women's Support Unit of High National Elections Commission of Libya on Tuesday held a webinar on promoting women participation and preventing violence against women in the coming elections.

During the webinar, Minister of State For Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Laf expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Women's Support Unit in providing a wider space for women's participation in the elections.

The webinar also gained the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as UN WOMEN.

"UNSMIL and UNDP electoral support team and UN WOMEN will continue to work closely with the High National Elections Commission to increase women participation in the political life in Libya," UNSMIL said in a statement.
