The Beach Bunch organised and held their first-ever night trail challenge on Aug 20 in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 70th birthday celebrations.

Flagging off at precisely 8pm, 380 runners geared up and raring to go, took on a gruelling 21km trail from Jerudong Beach through the McFarm Hills up to the Agropark and back again.

Winning first place for the female category was Yvette Kortekaas with a time of 2hr 4min, followed by Marnie Ahmad and Margaret Rait minutes apart at 2hr 11min and 2hr 13min respectively.

For the men's category, first place went to Sefli Ahar at 1hr 28min, followed by Samsul Zamri at 1hr 36min and in third place was Md Shah Azhar Abdullah Ahar at 1hr 38min.

According to a press release, all top three winners received cash as well as prizes sponsored by TriUltra and Under Armour.

Contributing greatly to the success of this event were the volunteers from Brunei-Muara District Office, Institute of Brunei Technical Education Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus, Volunteer First Aid Support Team and Persatuan Tahan Lasak Brunei as well support from Sponsors Ultron, the Marathon Shop, and the event's official timing partner RaceMatix.

The Beach Bunch's next event will be a Beachathon to be held on October 23
