The point of wearing a uniform is, of course, that you and your fellow classmates, work colleagues or team members all look the same, but when it comes to retrieving your luggage after a flight, this can be problematic.
Consider the British Olympics team, who returned home, exultant, after a Games in which they collected 67 medals and finished second overall, only to have to go through the tedious, time-consuming process of checking each identical red sports bag to see if it was theirs.
The gymnast Becky Downie posted a video of the scene at Heathrow Airport.
‘Having lots of fun…’ she wrote.
‘Spot your bag.’
Of course, it could be worse. Chinese athletes return to their country with the lowest national medal tally for 20 years, a disappointment encapsulated rather nicely in a tweet posted by Xinhua, the official national news agency.
‘No gold for #CHN gymnasts, #TeamChina have suffered the worst Olympic flop at #Rio2016.’
And then, ‘You’re kidding me? The country which has never finished above China is about to.’
