The Marine Department will constantly review and amend standards and new regulations in line with current developments to improve the maritime transport industry.

This was said by Haji Mohd Salihin bin Haji Aspar, Acting Director of the Marine Department, Ministry of Communications, in his presentation titled 'The Importance of Sea Transportation: The Country's Global Trade Link', yesterday during the Knowledge Convention 2016.

"This is not only to ensure the country's maritime safety, this will also contribute to the development of the marine transport industry being chosen as a shipping destination and global investment," he said.

He said that in addition, the Ministry of Communications also has an important role in ensuring the country can provide quality service in realising the national goal towards the diversification of industrial resources from the oil and gas industry as well as placing the country as a competitive force in the global economy.
