The School of Science and Engineering of Politeknik Brunei (PB) emerged as champions of its annual Politeknik Brunei Sports Festival 2016, held at the Belapan Track and Field, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

The sporting event saw the participation of PB staff and students of four schools - School of Business, School of ICT, School of Science and Engineering and School of Health Sciences.

Also participating in the activities were invited students from higher education institutions such as Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).

All participating students put in some impressive performances during the race for various running categories. Supporters of each school were in high spirits enjoying the competition building-up as the competition began.

Prize were later awarded to the winning schools which saw School of Business in second place and School of ICT in third. School of Health Sciences and PB Staff came in fourth and fifth place respectively.

The main highlight was the presentation of champion trophy to the School of Science and Engineering. Medals were also presented to individual winners of each running categories at the end of the event.

Politeknik Brunei Sports Festival 2016, commenced since early August, also saw a football tournament which saw the School of ICT winning the match.

Among other sporting activities carried out throughout the sport festival were the 6km Marathon, futsal, volleyball, bowling, dodgeball, frisbee, basketball, netball, badminton and tug-of-war.

The objectives of the event is to strengthen team spirit and bond among the students as well as their lecturers and, to provide opportunities for the participating students to polish their talents and to develop their competitive character and determination. It also aimed towards fostering relationships and cooperation between PB and other higher educational institutions in Brunei.
