Jocelyn Wong, Dygku Zayaputeri Emerged Champions of 30th Japanese Speech Contest

The 30th Japanese Speech Contest organised by the Continuing Education and Training Division, Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE); Language Centre, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD); and the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam, was held yesterday at the Lecture Hall of the School of Aviation, IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus.
The contest saw the participation of eight contestants in the Beginners Level and three in the Advanced Level.
In the Beginners Level, Jocelyn Wong Tshin Tze emerged as the champion with her speech titled 'Teachers', Kenny Su kah Hou came in second with his 'Recycle' speech, while Josephine Wong Tshin Huei came in third with her speech 'My Dream'.
In the Advanced Level, Dayangku Zayaputeri binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Yamin emerged as the champion with her speech 'Don't Cry', she also received a return flight ticket to Japan courtesy of All Nippon Airways. In second place was Dayang Nurliza binti Abdul Zabar with her speech '21st Century is the Internet Age: Pros and Cons', while Dayang Nuraizzah Ramizah binti Haji Asmali came in third with her speech 'My favourite band'.
Present as guest of honour was Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education.
Also present was H. E. Noriko Iki, Japanese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam.
Noriko Iki in her speech said, "I believe that the history of this contest symbolises a deep cultural and educational collaboration between Japan and Brunei and also shows our continuing efforts to develop our relationship."
