The Marketing Manager of Ghanim International Corporation, Dayang Nurliyana Fatin binti Arifin and the Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) have received the Asean Youth Award and the Accomplished Youth Organisations Awards in Asean (TAYO Asean) respectively.
Nurliyana Fatin and SCOT were nominated by Brunei as recipients of the awards presented during a special ceremony during the 8th Asean - Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY VIII) and the 7th Asean Senior Officials Meeting on Youth Plus Three (7th SOMY+3) in Siem Reap, Cambodia, which was held from August 25 to 26.
The 21st Asean Youth Day Meeting (AYDM) on August 25, with its theme 'Empowering Asean Youth for Sustainable Development', preceded the awards presentation, whereby the recipients shared their experiences through presentations.
AYDM was aimed at highlighting the role and contribution of youths in both countries to build prosperity and progress. AYDM brought together Asean youths for unity and peace through meaningful interactions.
Nurliyana Fatin was given recognition for her efforts to change the mindsets of youths waiting for jobs. She is active in helping youths who are inclined to entrepreneurship through advice and facilitates the implementation of business plan ideas.
She is also the recipient of Youth Service Award during the National Youth Day Celebration 2015.
SCOT excels in unity and organisational aspects, where SCOT are involved with youths' education and skills development, and actively contribute to firogrammes and community service projects as well as volunteerism.
SCOT, whose beneficial projects include 'The Green Xchange' and 'Fight Poverty Through Education', is the recipient of the Youth Association Award during the National Youth Day Celebration 2015:
The award was presented by Sean Borath, the Secretary of State, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Cambodia. SCOT was represented by its Acting Chairman Awang Mohammad Khairul Azmi bin Haji Mohd Salleh, while Nurliyana Fatin was represented by the Department of Youth and Sports.
