Beruang Blazers Endured First Defeat

KUCHING

Beruang Blazers endured their first defeat in the Yuwang EBL Basketball League after falling to an 86-82 loss to Kota Kinabalu Eagles at the MBKS Indoor Stadium in Kuching last night.

The Brunei-based outfit have earlier led by a four-point margin but the Eagles, coached by former Brunei national coach Nomar Angeles Isla, closed the gap in the final quarter to within touching distance before both sides moved to overtime after the scores were tied 66 all.

"It wasn't a heartbreak but rather a lesson for our team to learn from and bring over to the next match," said team manager Wira Pori.

"Credits to KK Eagles for bringing grit to the game. Our players, in typical fashion, played their hearts out and we hope to sustain for our final match tomorrow night against Lord Tigers," he added.

The Beruang Blazers have started the campaign with a nail-biting 66-65 victory over Labuan Wasps on Friday.
