DAVAO CITY, PHILIPPINES
DAVAO CITY – President Rodrigo R. Duterte aims to speak with the Commission on Audit on alternative procurement methods, in a bid to avoid a lengthy and oftentimes corruption-ridden process pushed by the commission.
He said the country will not compromise the safety of our troops in the military and police for the sake of the lower price of equipment.
“I will not compromise the Armed Forces,” President Duterte said, “Kasi gusto bidding, tatama iyan eh. It should be quality first, ang specification is quality.”
“Sabihin ko sa iyo, ‘Ay, my God I will not follow you.’ Eh kasi graft and corruption kasi naman iyan eh,” he added.
Mr. Duterte claimed that the bidding process was ironically one of the largest sources of corruption, which was among his battle cries during a nationwide campaign leading to at least 15 million votes during the last election.
