Sixth ISQ Starts Orientation for Training Batch

Since the start of Industrial Skills Qualification (ISQ) Programme in September 2013, about 1,000 students have joined the programme offered by School of Energy and Engineering Central. The average rate of passes and completion of studies is 80 per cent.
The programme is conducted in the cooperation with Energy and Industry Department under the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Education as well as oil and gas industry in the country.
The success of the programme was underscored by Principal of IBTE Central, Dr Sheikh Lukman bin Sheikh Abdul Hamid in his remarks at the Orientation Week for 6th Cohort for ISQ Programme held at the IBTE Mechanical Campus yesterday morning.
Some 120 individuals were accepted into six courses, namely Scaffolder, Rigger, Marker Fitter, Industrial Blaster Painter and ISQ in Heavy Vehicle Driver under the programme.
Dr Sheikh Lukman said the management and teaching workforce will always work hard to ensure that students complete their studies and become quality graduates equipped with skills in their respective fields. He urged all the students to make use of this opportunity to start becoming a valuable individual to their family, religion and nation.
Armi Durani bin Haji Durahman, the Head of School of Energy and Engineering, advised the students to avoid attitudes such as negativity and laziness that are not suitable to a culture of excellence.
During the orientation, students will be briefed on life on the campus as well as participate in activities in team-building and ice-breaking session.
