PETALING JAYA

The Health Ministry reported 5,434 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (Oct 18).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah tweeted that this brought the cumulative number of infections in the country to 2,396,121.

According to the Health Ministry's GitHub data repository, this is the first time daily case figures have dropped below 6,000 infections since June 28, 2021, when 5,218 cases were recorded.

However, Dr Noor Hisham did not list down the number of new cases according to state, saying the data will be shared by the Health Ministry on its CovidNow portal later.
