District-Level Meeting Held in Tutong for 70th Royal Birthday

TUTONG
Tutong District held its first high-level meeting for the 70th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam last Tuesday.
The meeting, held at Dewan Utama, Tutong District Civic Centre Complex, was chaired by the Acting Tutong District Officer, Awang Haji Adnan bin Haji Adam.
The meeting discussed official events to be held during the celebration in the district including religious, sporting and community activities as well as the 70 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for members of the mukim and village consultative councils.
The meeting also elected members of the high-level administrative committee for the celebration.

The acting district officer said the committee has been mandated to organise programmes to ensure more public attendance towards strengthening community solidarity in the country.
Similar to last year, the events are expected to coincide with activities in the month of Syawal, thus the committee has been urged to make early preparation also taking into account school and public holidays to ensure all events, especially the ceremony of His Majesty's get-together with the people, run smoothly and successfully.
In his speech, Haji Adnan said the committee will continue to plan and identify events that can enliven the celebration and strengthen the solidarity and participation from all layers of the society in the district as a symbol of loyalty towards the benevolent leadership of His Majesty by emphasising on the concept of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) and the Zikir Nation aspiration.
