BUTTERWORTH

Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) co-pilot Mejar Mohd Fareez Omar successfully underwent surgery at the Seberang Jaya Hospital around 7pm on Wednesday (Nov 17).

This comes after he was injured in the crash of a Hawk 108 jet at the RMAF airbase here the previous day.

His father, retired Air Force Mejar Omar Deros, 62, said the surgery was successful and ended at around 11pm on the same day.

"We thank all Malaysians for the prayers and good wishes they sent us," he said when contacted on Thursday (Nov 18).

On Tuesday (Nov 16), Kapt Mohamad Affendi Bustamy, 31, was killed while Mej Mohd Fareez was injured when the Hawk fighter jet they were flying crashed during a night training exercise at the RMAF base in Teluk Ayer Tawar.

Bernama reported that the late Kapt Mohamad Affendi was buried at his hometown of Muadzam Shah in Pahang on Wednesday.
