Beruang Blazers concluded the second circuit of the second Yuwang EBL Basketball championship yesterday night without a win after a disappointing defeat at the hands of the home team Labuan Wasps 91-73.
Imports Delvin Goh and Hernal Escosio both combined for 32 points for Beruang Blazers while home boys Darren Chai and Lim Liang Wei each contributed 13 points.
The high scoring import Lyndon Gudez only had six points from 1-9 shooting after he suffered a sprained finger on his shooting hand.
Wira pori, team manager, said after the game "As the league progresses, our team is in the midst of adapting to the intensity and physicality of the league, which is unlike in Brunei.
"Our results were better than the last circuit. We felt we were in the game untill the final buzzer.
"We hope to continue improving our outing once the Kota Kinabalu circuit starts.
"Gudez has a sprained finger on his shooting hand, which affected his performance greatly today.
"Rather than forcing him to play and possibly worsen the injury, our coaching staff elected to monitor his minutes in the hope that he recovers for the next leg.
"Yung Jian has a gash on his main hand as well, which he suffered during the Kuching game."
The competition will next move to Kota Kinabalu, on September 9-11.
