Abu Khaledi Yussrri Wins 1st Nissan Bowlers Championship 2016

The final round of the Nissan Bowlers Championship 2016 was held yesterday at MegaStrike Bowl, The Airport Mall.
A total of six games were competed, showcasing the high standard of bowling that Bruneians are capable of, with the top eight bowlers averaging more than 210 pin falls per game.
The high standard continued into the stepladder round, in which match the top three bowlers competed, with the top two seeds - Abu Khaledi Yussrri bin Abu Bakar and Pengiran Rudisofy bin Pengiran Tajuddin - scoring 241 and 236 respectively.
Abu Khaledi Yussrri was named the First Champion of the Nissan Bowlers Championship 2016, winning $1,200, a trophy and the challenge cup.
At the presentation ceremony, the Managing Director of MegaStrike Bowl, Major (Rtd) Hajah Sharifah Hazlina binti Haji Syed Elham, handed over cash prizes to the bowlers in the fourth to 18th positions, and Kilo Hup Siang, the Marketing Manager of Boustead Sdn Bhd, presented cash prizes and trophies to the top three bowlers.
The Master Qualifiers for the Nissan Bowlers Championship commenced three months ago, with a total of 47 bowlers taking part and over 500 qualifying attempts were made collectively vying for the final round's top 24 spots.
Of the 47, the championship received participation from bowlers around the country, including the Belait District and expatriates living in the country.
The event's objectives were to promote the sport of 10-pin bowling in Brunei as well as to foster and maintain good ties and true sportsmanship amongst participants.
