Tanjong Katong Girls' School Made Study Visit to SMSB

More than 40 students and teachers from Tanjong Katong Girls' School, Singapore, accompanied by students from Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, Tutong made a study visit to Tutong District yesterday.
Cikgu Mohd Zain Mohamed, a teacher of Tanjong Katong Girls' School, said the visit opened their eyes to the cultural diversity of Brunei Darussalam.
Commending the reception they received during the visit, he said the "hospitality of the people here is as wide as its land".
He also found it astonishing to learn that Brunei is rich in pristine forests and was amazed at the One Village One Product (1K1P) initiative, where the people are given assistance in producing and growing their village products and commercialise it to help the socio-economy of the village people.
He said he was also happy to learn the differences in Malay dialects spoken in different parts of the country.
Students - Ira Andreanna Naidu and Afrin Najumudeen - found it refreshing to learn about Brunei as an Islamic country with a unique national philosophy, the Malay Islamic Monarchy.
They said they also learnt so much from visiting the Maritime Museum prior to their visit to Tutong District.
During the students' visit to Tutong District, they were introduced to a variety of products produced by the 1K1P initiative.
The students and their accompanying teachers were welcomed to Tutong District by Dayang Siti Joriahati binti Johari, the Special Duties Officer cum Head of Corporate Division in Tutong District.
The team also visited the MPMK (Mukim and Village Consultative Council) Community Activity Centre, Gallery 2, .at the Tutong District Office, where they listened to a briefing on the roles and functions of the Tutong District Office which has a concept 'Developing Together with the People'.
The students also visited the 1K1P gallery at Tutong District Office to see the display of a variety of products.
The students were also taken to the Sungai Basong Recreational Park where they visited an exhibition that showcases the unique and rich diversity of ethnic groups in Tutong District.
The students were amazed to see the Sungai Tutong signboard located across the river in Tutong town and the Tutong Waterfront area.
The students from Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School were accompanied by their teacher, Cikgu Muhd Hafizuddin bin Abdullah Tong.
