(KPL) Some 1,195 new cases and five new deaths attributed to Covid-19 have been recorded over the past 24 hours raising the total of confirmed cases in the country to 71,518 including 11,513 active cases and 159 deaths.

Some 713 covid-19 patients were discharged from hospital yesterday, bringing the total of recoveries to 59,846.

The new deaths were documented in Vientiane 2, Vientiane (province) 2, and Savannakhet 1.

Of the Covid-19 cases reported over the previous hours, 528 were documented in Vientiane, 121 in Luang Prabang, 93 in Bokeo, 82 in Vientiane (province), 67 in Savannakhet, 45 in Champassak, 21 in Xayaboury, 43 each in Oudomxay and Huaphan, 32 in Khammuan, 29 in Borikhamxay, 23 in Saravan, 21 in Luang Namtha, 15 in Xiengkhuang, 11 in Phongsaly, 10 in Xekong, six in Attapeu, and two in Xaysomboun.

Since the first case was reported in the country in late March 2020, over 3.15 million people, 43.02% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and 3.86 million people (52.71%) have been administered with first doses.
