MANILA

President Rodrigo Duterte is no longer running for senator in the May 2022 polls.

Duterte arrived at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Intramuros, Manila on Tuesday, Dec. 14 to formally withdraw his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator.

His COC was filed by his representative last Nov 15 as substitute for Mona Liza Visorde of Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS).

Duterte was accompanied by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.

Hours before, Duterte’s longtime aide Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go also withdrew his COC for president.

They withdrew their COC’s a day before the Comelec is expected to release the official list of candidates.
