A total of 3,629 passengers, drivers, and cargo helpers are still stranded in various ports nationwide as authorities prohibit sea travel due to rough sea conditions caused by typhoon “Odette,” the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on Saturday morning, Dec. 18.

In a statement, the PCG said stranded passengers were in Bicol, Central Visayas, North Eastern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, and Western Visayas region as of 4 a.m. Saturday.

Bicol region has the highest number of stranded passengers, drivers, and cargo helpers with 1,473, followed by Eastern Visayas with 1,010, Western Visayas with 770 passengers, Central Visayas with 339, and North Eastern Mindanao with 37.

On the other hand, 270 vessels and 174 motorbancas were forced to take shelter as a precautionary measure against the possible threat of the typhoon.
