Manchester United Forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic Misses His PSG Salary

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been an immediate hit since joining Manchester United this summer.

ENGLAND

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has admitted that he does not miss much about life at Paris Saint-Germain, except for one thing in particular -- his salary.

The former Sweden international swapped the French capital for Manchester this summer and has been an immediate hit at Old Trafford, scoring four goals in his first four competitive matches in English football, but suggested he took a pay cut to reunite with Jose Mourinho this summer.

Speaking with French channel SFR Sport ahead of the Manchester derby on Saturday, Ibrahimovic was quick to name the only thing he misses from his time in France.

"I miss my last salary from Paris," Ibrahimovic said, grinning. "That is what I miss."

PSG and United do not confirm players' salaries, but during the transfer window Ibrahimovic was reported to be seeking about £220,000 (€260,000) per week at Old Trafford. In May, ESPN's World Fame 100 estimated his salary at PSG at about €290,000 a week - which would mean he's now making €30,000 a week less.

Ibrahimovic was then asked about his former club's chances for UEFA Champions League glory this season.

The 34-year-old felt PSG remain "very strong" and acknowledged that their philosophy is to "win everything."

However, Ibrahimovic sounded a note of caution for Les Parisiens and insisted it needs "hard work," "time" and "patience" to get to the summit of the continental game.

"I don't know," Ibrahimovic replied when quizzed about the possibility of PSG winning the Champions League. "I think the team is very strong. They have bought some new players but their philosophy is the same, to win everything and push for the Champions League.

"But, if you could do this [snaps fingers] and win the Champions League, then everybody would win it. That is not the way it works. You need to work hard, it takes time and you need to have patience. Then the thing comes by itself. But lets see, that is another problem and it is not my problem!"

Ibrahimovic ended a four-year stay with PSG this summer and departed the French capital having broken a number of club records, notably that of becoming the capital club's all-time top scorer.
