BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

The Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court has sentenced to 7 months imprisonment towards a foreigner for failing to settle $149,600 fine, yesterday. He was charged for an offence under Section 146, 1, 'D' of the Excise Order 2006.

 

36-year old Bangladeshi, tangil mahmud was found guilty for possessing 191 cartons of cigarettes of various brands and a cash money amounting to $451. He was arrested on the 16th of December 2021 at Kampung Masin area by the Laws Enforcement Division, Royal Customs and Excise Department. The court ordered the defendant to settle the fine on the day he was charged but fail to so and undergo 7 months imprisonment starting he was remanded on the 30th of December 2021. All contraband items were seized to be destroyed while the cigarettes sales proceeds were seized.
