BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

The Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court, has sentenced three Indonesian men for offences under Section 146, 1 D of the Excise Order 2006, which is possession of contraband, cigarettes. The three men were arrested at a workers quarters in Lambak Kanan on the 25th and 26th of December 2021.

 

38 year old Rimanwas sentenced to a fine of $8,760 or 8 months imprisonment in default for the offence of possessing 11 cartons and 2 packs of cigarettes of various brands.

 

Saiful Bahri, aged 31 was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment in default of a $126,000 fine for the offence of possessing 158 cartons and 19 packs of cigarettes of various brands.

 

Meanwhile, Masuddin, aged 36 was sentenced to a $40,400 fine or 14 months imprisonment in default for the offence of possessing 50 cartons and 18 packs of cigarettes of various brands as well as $3,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the cigarette sales. All items were seized to be destroyed while the cash money was also seized.
